Office of Assessment & Evaluation

Mission

The mission of the Office of  Assessment & Evaluation is to facilitate and promote a climate that supports continuous improvement of student learning across the university. The office primarily focuses on assessing student learning outcomes, analyzing those outcomes to determine areas of strength and areas needing improvement, and developing and implementing plans to improve student learning. The mission includes strong emphasis on values and practices in the following areas:

  • Assessment as a collective responsibility of all participants in the academic enterprise.
  • Assessment as critical inquiry into matters of vital interest, such as curriculum building, instructional effectiveness, and student development.
  • Assessment as a continuous process that is integrated more harmoniously into daily academic life.
  • Assessment which promotes scholarly understandings of learning and student development.
